10 yo Rhum Agricole Gardel Distillery, Guadeloupe, The Alchemist

Description

Rhum Agricole is a type of rum distilled in one of the French West Indies islands from freshly squeezed sugar cane juice rather than from molasses; this example has been aged for 10 years (Rhum Vieux).  The Gardel distillery closed down in the 1990's but there is still a sugar factory on the site.  This special rum has deep coppery brown with flecks of sunlight.  A bewitching deep sweet and aromatic nose with honey and toffee pudding.  Fragrant palate fills the mouth with silky notes of vanilla and oak. The finish is firm and dry and lingers long into the sunset.
