Product information

Description

Intense nose of candied fruit, mixed spice and fig. Lush but not overpowering, ripe stone fruit (mirabelle, peach, apricot). Intense, sweet but finish is very clean and balanced; not at all cloying. Perfect for cream or fruit-based desserts, a superb foie gras match (beats Sauternes for me).

This vineyard's reputation stretches back to the Middle Ages, with the Baur family cultivating 2.5 hectares of clay-rich soils over limestone, and Pinot Gris on the marl-heavy patches (35yo on average). It was his first vintage, but Arnaud says he was told by an older local winemaker that he would be lucky to ever see a harvest as great as 2009 in his lifetime! The long, warm ripening season produced some stunning late harvest grapes (botrytis free), and this rich, complex wine is something to savour.
