Product information

65% Chenin Blanc, 35% Chardonnay
A similar blend to the Collection white, but this feels a bit of a step up in terms of richness and depth. Some crystallised pineapple fruit on the nose, more of that Chenin florality, then a broad, expansive palate; almost Savennières-like balance of waxiness and rich, minerally texture. Feels young; great for rich, creamy sauces.

A brand new addition to the Mourat range, and perhaps Jérémie's most exciting project to date. Le Moulin Blanc occupies a fifteen hectare site dominating the valleys of the Lay and the Yon, Jérémie purchased the property about two years ago but had to carry out a radical program of renewal and restoration in the vineyards, which had stood neglected for years. He even restored the windmill and replaced the sails which were destroyed by fire during the Guerres de Vendée - no hurry in this part of France; the wars were back at the the time of the French Revolution!

The property is mostly planted with Pinot Noir, and most of that is at least 40 years old. The hill on which the vines sit is exposed to the Atlantic breezes which come in from about 20 km away, no chemicals or herbicides are used. There is a freshness and minerality to these wines that speaks of their location, but a ripeness to the fruit that suggests more Burgundian origins, though all are classified as IGP Val de Loire. A fascinating range, including that rarest of beasts - a white (still) Pinot Noir.
