Product information

A tiny vineyard, sadly - 50% Grenache 50% Syrah, fermented together with a 24 day maceration, and 9 months ageing in tank.  We’ve been looking out for a good Gigondas to replace the one we shipped from Domaine Cassan for so many years and this appears to be a natural successor.  Lovely aromatics on the nose, earthy spice, sweet black and red fruits which follow seamlessly through ono the palate. Good concentration, well-structured with powerful, ripe, velvety tannins – the natural freshness of the 2014 vintage is evident in this wine. From old vines, farmed organically with a very low yield. (Limited production max 5000 bottles per year).

Owned by brothers Jean-Claude and Philippe Lambert, the domaine was created in 1935 by their grandfather and now covers 87 hectares, 40 ha of which are on the stony, long-lived ‘Plan de Dieu’ (a CDR Village AC for a decade now).  In recent years they have restructured the vineyard, planting more Syrah (for colour and aroma) and Mourvedre (for structure), so that today they are planted with seven different red varieties. The vines are mainly 30 years old although there is a substantial holding of vines of at least 60. Everything is done in an ‘eco friendly’ manner; all the farming is organic.  The grapes are de-stemmed and the grapes fermented by type after 15 days maceration.  The final blends are done by bench tasting after the wines are finished.
