Product information

Soy and aniseed on the nose, with light tannic chew and crunchy cranberry fruit. Pure and open-knit with very tender tannic feel on the palate. A great demonstration of the purity of the vintage. 2018-2026 16.5/20 - Richard Hemming, Jancis, Jan. '18

The Raquillets in Mercurey go back to the 1600s in this central hub for the Côte Chalonnaise; François started under the stewardship of his father back in the 1984, and had taken the reins by the early ‘90s, at which point the wines took a step up. Hand-harvested fruit is carefully sorted on his ‘table de tri’, and transformed in immaculate new cellars; he aims for vintage character over extraction. The old vines are over 60 years of age, and this wine has a lovely wild-but-elegant feel from a balanced Pinot harvest.
