Product information

"Les Candives” is not a district but the local name for Syrah, from the commune of Chananay in the Vin de Pays Collines Rhodaniennes appellation. From vines grown in shallow, granitic soil this gives Syrah fans a lot for their money. Hand-picked grapes, sorted, destemmed and crushed, fermented with native yeasts in open vats – all very simple and natural and the wine spends about 8 months in barriques.
With alcohol at a very manageable 12% this is a wine made for drinking, not for the soup bowl…. Beautiful, if youthful nose of smoky black spice, pepper, licorice and hedgerow fruits. Precise on the palate, very pure – edgy, ripe black fruits, blue plums, spice – quite delicate really, will gain weight in bottle, fine tannins. Lovely finish- almost floral. A bargain.
