Description

Gunflint and apples. So crisp and dry and flinty and focused that it's practically a razor carved from stone. Yet it fills the mouth (perhaps more with the rattle of sabres than seduction), and it lifts the palate like a shot of wasabi. Precise and long range. Quincy with a call to arms. Good Value Drink 2018-2022 **Wine of the Week** 17/20 - Tamlyn Currin, Jancis Robinson.com, June '18

Quincy was rather left in the shadows as Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé took over the wine world, but that's no bad thing for those looking to try a real taste of the Loire; it's a region to watch now for Sauvignon Blanc of finesse and character.

Yves Lestourgie used to be a cereal farmer but now grows grapes to put bread on the table! His father Antoine now runs the 200ha cereal farm, whilst Yves and oenologist wife Géraldine have grown from just over a hectare of Sauvignon Blanc two decades later to eleven or so many and varied plots (not a deliberate policy; simply because they added to their holdings as and when good plots became available). Their Quincy from 15-20 year old vines is now firmly established as one of the best within the appellation; always typical, never rustic, and just super value.
