Product information

Description

Young vine fruit from Caparzo, Borgo Scopeto and Doga delle Clavule to produce primary Sangiovese wild red and black forest fruit with a touch of spice and violet. Perfect midweek drinking from a very promising vintage.

The name of this estate apparently derives from ‘Ca’Pazzo’, as shown on some ancient maps. The vineyards, the cellars and all the agricultural equipment were installed at the end of the 1960s and are continuously updated; under the ownership of owner Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini and winemaker Massimo Bracalente, Caparzo is an estate that is constantly seeking to improve – perhaps experimenting with new training systems or particular various clonal selections, certainly never sitting on their collective laurels as some are inclined to do.

The estate itself covers an area of 190 hectares (475 acres), 85 of which are vineyards, 4 are of olive groves, 87 of which are wooded and 14 of which are to be planted with new vines and Caparzo is the only estate-bottled producer of Brunello di Montalcino to have estate vineyards on all five sides of the hill of Montalcino, ensuring that no matter what climatic challenges effect one side, the other vineyards will more than compensate – which side of the hill one has one’s vineyards can be a huge factor in certain vintages.
