Product information

Wonderful grapefruit-pith bitterness and macadamia oil. Herbal and wild and salty and citrus. It reminds me of Moroccan preserved lemons with their salty, tangy, citric-oily intensity. Begging for green olives, straight-off-the-griddle flatbreads and fresh humus. (TC) 17/20 - Jancis, May '18

100% Palomino Fino from the single vineyard Pago del Hornillo in Sanlúcar, made by selecting the best barrels of the Maruja and putting them aside to age for an average of 12 – 15 years, adding amontillado depth to that manzanilla freshness.

Bodegas Juan Piñero began with the purchase of a century-old winery in the low-lying parts of this famous town. Considerable investment was needed to further enhance the bodegas’ potential; extensive remodelling of the buildings and courtyard has created the ideal atmosphere for developing manzanilla. Top quality oak barrels were bought followed by fine sherry must from the region’s finest vineyards.  Further expansion in 2000 and 2007 (when they acquired  another century-old bodega located on Calle San Francisco Javier in the historic centre of Jerez de la Frontera.

These are very fine wines and as far removed from the vicarage as one could imagine, highly recommended and a real eye opener when matched with food.
