Product information

Pale amber. Heady. Smells of baked orange and pecan cake and rooibos tea. Almost like freshly baked sour-dough bread in its texture and density and savoury comforting flavours, but then a glorious sense of Seville-orange marmalade floods the palate with all its bitterness and sweetness and sharpness and chewiness. Deeply umami – there’s almost a bit of tamari soy on the finish. For comté or mimolette cheese, perhaps. (TC) 17/20 - Jancis, May '18

Bodegas Juan Piñero began with the purchase of a century-old winery in the low-lying parts of this famous town. Considerable investment was needed to further enhance the bodegas’ potential; extensive remodelling of the buildings and courtyard has created the ideal atmosphere for developing manzanilla. Top quality oak barrels were bought followed by fine sherry must from the region’s finest vineyards.  Further expansion in 2000 and 2007 (when they acquired  another century-old bodega located on Calle San Francisco Javier in the historic centre of Jerez de la Frontera.

These are very fine wines and as far removed from the vicarage as one could imagine, highly recommended and a real eye opener when matched with food.
