Description

A bit of a GSM pick n' mix from across South Australia, with old-vine Grenache from McLaren Vale making up this three quarters of this year's blend - packed with fresh black cherry fruit and subtle spice. Just a great glass to enjoy midweek, but will really come into its own once BBQ season hits - very nicely defined, and real interest at the price.

76% Grenache (mostly from old vines in McLaren Vale), plus 10% Shiraz, 9% Mataro and 5% Carignan, and it was the more delicious of the pair, for me. The sweet, juicy bramble fruit of the Grenache has excellent purity and clarity, benefiting greatly from its youthfulness. Despite the 14.5% alcohol, it is dangerously drinkable and would benefit from being lightly chilled.
*Wine of the Week* - Richard Hemming MW, Jancis Robinson.com, 15/2/19

Wild & Wilder is the sort of project Australia does really well; a collaboration between MWs Giles Cooke and Fergal Tynan across sites in Langhorne Creek and the Barossa and Clare Valleys, allowing for a wide variety of grapes to match the regions. Their Tabula Rasa wines are something different; red and white blends bottled in 50cl crown-capped bottle with a blend that changes every year depending on the harvest - great, fun wines for a weeknight glass or summer outdoors, with a great informal feel. Wines are minimal intervention and vegan friendly. If this is the future of everyday drinking, count me in!
